Privacy notice

1. Who operates this site

TroveGlint (troveglint.com) is published and operated by a private individual, not by a company, partnership or registered business:

The operator is the person accountable for personal information under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5) and, to the extent it applies to activity carried on in the province, the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (SBC 2003, c. 63). Enquiries under either statute go to the address above and are answered by the operator personally.

2. The short version

TroveGlint is a reading site with no form, no sign-up, no comment box, no account and no shop. Nothing asks a visitor to type anything, and no script here sends anything anywhere. The only personal information connected with this site is (a) the technical record every web server necessarily keeps when it delivers a page, and (b) whatever a reader chooses to put in an e-mail to the operator.

3. What this site does not collect

The pages published here collect no names, addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, identity documents or financial details. There is no contact form, no newsletter, no chat widget, no push-notification prompt, no social plug-in, no advertising network and no visitor-level analytics product of the operator's own. No profiling is carried out, and no automated decision with legal or similarly significant effect is made about any reader.

4. What is processed automatically when a page is served

Two processors deliver these pages, and each keeps short technical records of its own. The operator neither combines those records with anything else nor tries to identify readers from them.

4.1 Hosting

The files sit on a hosting account. In the ordinary course of running a web server the host records, for each request: the IP address of the connecting device, the date and time, the URL requested, the status returned, the bytes sent, the referring address where the browser supplies one, and the user-agent string. These entries exist for security and fault-finding, and the operator consults them only when investigating an outage or an attack.

4.2 Cloudflare

The domain is served through Cloudflare, Inc. as a content delivery network and protective layer. Cloudflare terminates the encrypted connection, filters automated abuse and caches static files near the reader. To do that it processes the IP address, the requested and referring addresses, browser and device characteristics and an approximate country derived from the IP address. It may set strictly technical cookies for security, and may add its own aggregate delivery-performance measurement to pages it serves; that measurement reports loading timings such as Core Web Vitals in aggregate and is not used by the operator to recognise individual readers. Cloudflare acts as a service provider on the operator's instructions.

5. Storage inside your browser

The notice bar shown on a first visit writes exactly one entry into the browser's local storage, under the key tg1_cookie_ack, recording that a choice was made. It contains no identifier, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be erased at any time by clearing site data. No other key is written by this site; the cookie notice page lists it in full alongside the technical cookies Cloudflare may set.

6. Purposes and consent

Personal information connected with this site is processed for three purposes only: delivering the requested pages, keeping the site available and protected from abuse, and answering correspondence. Under PIPEDA, consent for the first two is implied by the act of requesting a page, the processing being necessary and obvious to a reasonable person. Consent for the third is express: an e-mail is voluntary, and its contents are used only to reply to it.

7. E-mail sent to the operator

A message sent to the address in section 1 reaches a mailbox operated for this site. Its contents, the sender's address and anything the sender chooses to include are used solely to answer the message and, where it reports an error, to correct the page. Correspondence is never added to a mailing list, sold, shared for marketing or passed to any studio, storefront or advertiser.

8. Disclosure to others

Personal information is not sold, rented, traded or used for the benefit of a third party. It is disclosed only to the processors named in section 4, for the purposes described there, and to a public authority where a valid legal demand under Canadian law compels disclosure. Should that ever occur, the operator would disclose the minimum required and, where the law permits notice, would say so on this page.

9. Transfers outside Canada

Hosting and content-delivery infrastructure operates internationally, so a request may be handled by equipment outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. PIPEDA permits a transfer of this kind for processing provided the organisation transferring the information remains accountable for it and uses contractual means to secure comparable protection; the operator relies on the data-processing terms published by each provider, which impose confidentiality, security and use-limitation obligations. While information is in a foreign jurisdiction it may nevertheless be accessible to the courts and authorities of that jurisdiction under local law.

10. How long information is kept

• Hosting and Cloudflare technical records: retained by those providers under their own schedules, ordinarily measured in days to a few months, and not archived separately by the operator.
• Correspondence: kept while a matter is open and for up to twenty-four months afterwards, so that a follow-up question can be answered in context, then deleted.
• The browser entry described in section 5: kept in the reader's own browser until the reader clears it.

11. Your rights

Under PIPEDA, and under the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act where it applies, an individual may:

• ask whether personal information about them is held, and obtain access to it;
• ask for a correction where information is inaccurate or incomplete, and require that a note of the requested correction be attached if the correction is refused;
• revoke a consent previously given, subject to legal or contractual limits, by writing to the address in section 1;
• ask for an explanation of how information has been used and to whom it has been disclosed;
• complain to the operator, and afterwards to the appropriate regulator.

A request should be sent to the e-mail or postal address in section 1 and describe what is sought. The operator answers within thirty days, without charge; where a request cannot be met, the reason is given in writing.

12. Complaints to a regulator

An unresolved complaint may be taken to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, 30 Victoria Street, Gatineau, Quebec K1A 1H3, telephone 1-800-282-1376, priv.gc.ca. Where the British Columbia statute applies, it may instead go to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, PO Box 9038, Stn. Prov. Govt., Victoria, BC V8W 9A4, oipc.bc.ca. Neither route requires permission from the operator, who will cooperate with any review.

13. Electronic messages

This site sends no commercial electronic messages. There is no newsletter, no promotional mail-out and no automated message of any kind, so nothing here engages the consent and identification requirements of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL, S.C. 2010, c. 23). A reply to a reader's own e-mail is correspondence, not a commercial electronic message. Should a newsletter ever be introduced, it would be opt-in, would identify the operator and would carry a working unsubscribe mechanism in every message, as CASL requires.

14. Age

TroveGlint is written for adult readers and is not directed at children. The operator does not knowingly process personal information about anyone under 16. Because there is no form, no registration and no account, a child cannot supply personal information through these pages. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent an e-mail containing personal information may write to the address in section 1 and the message will be deleted.

15. Security

Pages are served only over an encrypted HTTPS connection with a current certificate. The site is static: no database, no server-side application, no upload and no administrative login exposed to the public internet, which removes the most common avenues of compromise. Access to the hosting account and the mailbox is protected by a unique long passphrase and second-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is perfect; this notice describes measures proportionate to the very small amount of information involved.

16. Other sites and named brands

These pages describe applications published in Google Play and name their studios for identification. TroveGlint is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for Google LLC, Google Play or any studio mentioned. This notice covers troveglint.com only; anything a reader does afterwards in a store or an application is governed by that party's own privacy terms.

17. Changes to this notice

This notice may be amended if the technical arrangements behind the site change — for example if a provider is replaced. The amended text is published at this address with a new effective date at the top and takes effect on that date.
